What You Need to Learn HTML
Before jumping into the basics, which is really known as HTML, you just need a few tools. If you really want to get a good grasp on this subject I suggest you use Notepad as your editor, but for learning purposes Dreamweaver will be a useful tool, and of course you will need a web browser of your choice.
First off, HTML is a web based programming language used for designing the way a website is displayed to the browser. HTML is actually short for Hypertext Markup Language, but everyone is more familiar with the term HTML.
HTML is actually a very simple language to learn and in learning this web based programming language you will be able to create basic websites that can be viewable to the whole world.
Here is an Example of what a simple HTML document should look like,

<p>This is a Paragraph Tag</p>
</body>
</html>
This is just a basic HTML page, of course in the real world it will be more complex than that but these are just the stepping-stones into your new learning experience.
I recommend that you go on Google and find tutorials and examples of how to develop websites in HTML from scratch.
